CELCAA was founded in 1979 by major European sectoral trade associations that are involved in retail and wholesale of agricultural and agri-food products to join their forces and cooperate on a horizontal level. And this need for cooperation becomes more vital, legislation increasingly impacts on issues common to all agricultural traders. Furthermore, representation of specific agricultural traders interests towards partners in the food chain are crucial in view of the vertical integration.
